Ford Model A by MAT

I'm not here to yuck your yum, but ninety-nine percent of the time a new restomod shows up on the scene, be it from Singer, Nardone, Kimera, Boreham Motorworks, Lunaz, SpeedKore, HWA, Totem, TWR, Evoluto, Fifteen Eleven, Callum, Everrati, Frontline, Eccentrica, Alfaholics, Redux Leichtbau, Ringbrothers, or—yawn—Icon, I shrug my shoulders and move on with my life.

You can, too! Because I'm about to ruin restomods for you, forever. 

This is one of those "if you know, you know" unicorn-grade cars, with an impossible-to-replicate history, ownership, and a top-tier build. I first found clips of it online, floating around torrent sharing sites and forums nearly 20 years ago, and it's time I professed my affection for it.

If you know me, you understand the magnitude of what I'm saying here: a Ford Model A is not my cup of tea, to say the least. For one to be my favourite-ever restomod? It must be special. 

A World Rally Championship driver had spotted it, and a Model T while in Argentina for the 1993 WRC round and shipped them back to his native Finland. The T was first up for restoration, and brought back to as-new specification.

The 1929 A, however, ended up becoming the sleeper car to end all sleeper cars.

See, restomods are only as good as the team behind them, and without casting shade on anyone else's hard work, Finland's Mäkelä Auto Tuning (MAT) is used to restoring ex-WRC rally cars, historic racing cars, and ex-Works machines filled to the brim with unobtanium-grade parts.
