If you’ve been around here long enough, you’ll know I occasionally drop this chestnut: humans have already built all the cars we need.
If it was only ever about needs, we may have stopped building cars in the mid-2000s or something. It’s about profits, and using cars to drive global industries as diverse as mining, finance, and semiconductors.
Here at WCOTD, being religiously focused on only the vehicles themselves and less about the larger industry sometimes seems quaint to me, as if knowing about three-eyed Belgian cars could miraculously influence how these gigantic, society-shaping corporate machines really do imprint on our lives.
It’s easier to not say anything.
But, if I may be so bold…
