Kodiak is a fantastic, somewhat harsh word. A smooth, relaxed, southern word, it is not. 

It has tremendous stage presence, bound by two robust Ks.

Then, there’s its association with the kodiak, largest of all brown bears, capable of running for longer than you can, over rougher terrain, at more than 50 km/h (30-35 mph). 

With a grizzly — emissions compliant! — mid-mounted Chevrolet V8 engine with its roots in California, you can best believe the Kodiak F1 was a total surprise on its IAA show debut in 1983. The companies responsible for it are still here, so why did this promising sports car disappear from everyone’s radar?
