Weird Car of the Day #421: 1964 BMW 700 by Colani – Egghead
I’ve made a grave mistake.
Taking up so much space here for ‘weird’ Fords — somehow I’ve now written about more than 40 of them — I haven’t first focused on the truly innovative vehicles that should be more widely known.
To keep this one as short and lightweight as this car was (yeah, it looks flimsy to me, too!) I’ll do my best to keep this memorable and minimal.

In 1963, a young Luigi Colani took parts from a very pedestrian 2-cyl BMW 700, bolted them inside of the first-ever plastic monocoque chassis (approximately 350 kg, or 771 lbs.), and apparently was able to reach 200 km/h (125mph).
